Based in both Silicon Valley and Medellin, Hourly is a people platform designed for small businesses to help them track time, pay and insure their workforce.

The idea for Hourly originated from CEO & Co-Founder Tom Sagi, who worked at his family-owned construction business, a process he described as a “weekly nightmare” that took up days processing payroll, sorting through time cards, and managing workers’ compensation reporting.

To help ease these pain points, Sagi teamed up with Co-Founder Shay Litvak, a veteran technologist with more than 20 years of experience, and together they created the technology platform known as Hourly.

Sagi has been running the business for three years from his offices in both Palo Alto, California and Medellin, Colombia. His growing workforce consists of 20 employees, including mobile app designers, engineers, sales and HR professionals. The company is in the process of doubling its team and expanding into two more states before the end of the year.

Sagi said: “We’re at a stage where we have the resources to grow our great team this year. Our biggest challenge is keeping on top of the myriad payroll taxes in each state and ensuring we’re compliant every step of the way. Having top talent at the helm is essential to achieving our goals this year.”

How Recruitee helped Hourly with their hiring process

Sagi added: “My role as a CEO is to bring the best talent to work for us, in order to do that we needed an effective ATS platform. Prior to using Recruitee, our hiring process lacked formality and structure. Our HR manager was constantly filling out documentation, which would slow the hiring process down. It would also be difficult for us to follow our recruitment process thoroughly from start to end.
